The waitress was very nice and apologized several times. Although I normally would not have ordered an IPA, I ordered one as that was what my friend was drinking, and I was growing tired of waiting 5 minutes every time I ordered a beer off the menu only to be told it was not available. My friend finished his fried catfish, and I think he may have even licked the plate! The only disappointing thing is that not one, not two, but three of the beers listed on their menus were not available - and there are not many more to choose from.

The half rack of ribs that I got were very good, and I would order them again. The place was clean and appears to be a more upscale southern/soul food spot than I typically frequent. I ate here with a local friend, and thought it was a great spot. So many great sounding dishes yet to try. No dessert, no room for it!! A great place to dine. What a great idea for a biscuit and it was delicious too!. My other friend got the "Hamson", a sweet potato biscuit with thin sliced ham, brie and molasses Dijon mustard. Oh my goodness, I could have eaten a truck load of this even after the huge helping of FGT! My friends burger was cooked perfectly and the fried sweet potatoes were delicious.

Next was the 3-Cheese Mac and Cheese with country ham bits. Let me tell you, we gobbled down every bit of both. That meant we got about twice the normal serving size. Somehow the kitchen forgot to include the okra so the waitress brought us a basket filled with fried okra. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes and Okra Basket. The menu offers enough that even the most picky eater can find something to like. We made a day trip from Raleigh and it was not a disappointment. We drive from Greensboro to visit this restaurant and will definitely go back again.Īfter all the articles I had read on this place, I decided it was time to give it a try. The servers at Sweet Potatoes are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I only wish they would add more southern vegetables to the "sides" menu. The Hot Brown was served on a sweet potato biscuit (as many menu items are) and the salad was a culinary work of art with oven roasted potatoes, green beans, and topped with fried chicken tenders. Our table ordered the fried green tomato BLT, the turkey Hot Brown, and the Sunday Supper salad-all were excellent. It was served hot in a cast iron skillet with a pat of melting butter on top-absolutely delicious! The Sweet Potatoes menu consists of highly creative spins on traditional southern dishes. There are many appealing items to choose from on the lunch menu so we ordered a pan of sweet potato corn bread while we decided on entrees.

This was our first visit for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away, as there is generally a wait at dinner. This restaurant has recently moved next door to their original location and now have more dining tables, a larger bar area, and an outdoor patio. I recently ate there for lunch on a Saturday with a family member and a friend.
